Monash/Scott Service Scholarship for 2nd and 3rd year medical students along with residency scholarships in Chicago- Deadline 5/10/13

The Chicago Community Trust has partnered with National Medical Fellowships to create the Dr. David Monash/John Caldwell Scott Medical Student Scholarship Program in Chicago, Illinois. This service-learning program is designed to increase the number of qualified medical providers who have a commitment to improving access to quality healthcare in medically underserved communities of Chicago. Both the Trust and NMF believe that developing health professionals with a commitment to community service from diverse, multicultural backgrounds will help improve the quality of a culturally competent healthcare workforce and help to close the health disparities gap.

The Monash/Scott Service Scholarships are available to six (6) second- or
third-year medical students who each receive $5,000 for conducting a
community health elective rotation at their site of choice.

Residency Scholarships are available to four (4) students who have
completed medical school, matched as clinical residents in the Chicago
area, and exhibit commitment to underserved populations. Each awardee
receives $25,000, 80% of which must be used to decrease medical school
debt. Documentation of the use of funds is required.
