Student National Medical Association and Child Family Health International- Global Health Immersion Trip

Child Family Health International is a non-profit organization that arranges global health experiences for pre-medical, medical students, residents and allied health students. CFHI and SNMA have teamed up to offer the 2011 SNMA Medical Mission trip. The program that offers students the opportunity to participate in a 2-week global health program in the city of Oaxaca Mexico!
This program will provide students with cultural competencies that are crucial for effective health care professionals. The program is also designed to provide in-depth clinical experience that will not only lead to greater Spanish fluency, but also, greater awareness of the similarity and differences of medical practice in Mexico and United States and the implication of these issues on medical practice and treatment of the growing Latino immigrant population in the United States.
Increasing one’s awareness of other cultures is becoming increasingly relevant for healthcare professionals as industrialized countries become more ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse.
The program dates are June 3rd to June 18th. Costs of the trip include 2 weeks of clinical experience ranging from Family Medicine to OB/Gyn, daily Spanish language training, 2 meals per day, and lodging with a host family.
