OVERVIEW AND ELIGIBILITY

E4FC’s New American Scholars Program provides financial awards and support services to low-income immigrant college students who live or attend school in the San Francisco Bay Area. We provide scholarships of up to $10,000 to cover tuition and other college expenses. Scholars are selected for their academic excellence, financial need, and community impact. They are expected to participate in E4FC events and commit to community service or professional development activities for the year.

ELIGIBILITY:

   * Foreign-born
   * Financial need
   * Do not have permanent residency (green card) or citizenship in the US
   * Current or intended enrollment in a two or four-year college or university for 2011-2012
   * Minimum GPA requirement:
         o For high school students: 3.3 cumulative high school GPA
         o For college students: 2.8 cumulative college GPA
   * Demonstrated academic preparation and community/extracurricular involvement
   * Residency requirements:
         o You must have lived in California for three or more years of your high school career
         o You must fulfill at least one of the following:
              1. previous or intended graduation from a San Francisco Bay Area high school, or
              2. current or expected enrollment in a San Francisco Bay Area college or university
         o We define San Francisco Bay Area as the following 11 counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, Sonoma, and Yolo.
