Latin American Cancer Research Coalition Internship Program

Including Summer Course: Social Marketing for Health in the Latino Community May 18, 2009 – July 14, 2009

The Lombardi Cancer Center at Georgetown University is offering a ten-week summer paid internship program for undergraduate and graduate students. The internship program includes scholarships to attend the 2-credit “Social Marketing for Health in the Latino Community” course for credit. Interns will work with community health clinics that serve Latinos in conducting research on cancer prevention and early detection. In addition, this full-time program will provide interns with the opportunity to work directly with cancer prevention researchers and physicians from Georgetown University and the Washington Hospital Center.

Qualifications for the Internship

Interns must:

* Be bilingual (English/Spanish)
* Have an interest in health issues, particularly regarding cancer prevention
* Have an avid interest in helping the recent Latino immigrant community in the D.C. area
* Be interested in using the experience towards a career in the health care field

To apply for the internship program, please contact Claire Selsky at by April 1, 2009. Please attach a resume and a 500-word essay discussing the health areas of particular interest to you, the areas of health in which you have previously worked, and the impact that you anticipate this opportunity will have on your future career plans.
